The Passing of Fr. Vince Cushing

Dear Friends,

With sadness, I write to let you know that Fr. Vincent D. Cushing, OFM passed from this world into eternal life earlier today.  For 30+ years, Fr. Cushing was an important part of our parish’s life as presider-celebrant at weekend Masses. During those years, Fr. Cushing became a friend and trusted confidant to many.  In recent visits with Fr. Cushing, he spoke fondly of his time with our parish and was grateful for the prayerful support he continued to enjoy from parishioners as his health declined.

Fr. Cushing was 90 years old and enjoyed a very full life as a Franciscan most notably as President of the Washington Theological Union.  Arrangements are pending. Please keep Fr. Cushing and his Franciscan family in your prayers as they prepare for his funeral.

 Grant, we pray, O Lord,
       that the soul of Vincent, your servant and Priest,
       whom you honored with sacred office                  
       while he lived in this world,
      may exult for ever in the glorious home of heaven.

        in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
        God for ever and ever. Amen.
