As November approaches we look forward to another successful Thanksgiving food drive to help families in Baltimore and Annapolis as well as those in our local area. Last year we distributed 400 dinners to St. Gregory’s, 56 to Annapolis, and 194 to local families through the Food Pantry. Rising prices make it even more important for us to match that total this year, and we will follow the same procedures which simplified the handling and distribution of the food. We will keep you apprised of progress each week via the Seton website and social media.
HOW YOU CAN HELP
Pack a food bag. Drop your packed bag on the table outside the Parish Center. PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE THE BAGS IN THE NARTHEX or CHURCH OFFICE as they are being checked in and stored in the Parish Center.
Contribute money. Mail a check (or cash) to Seton Parish (and include “Thanksgiving” on the memo line) or drop in the collection basket at any Mass or give on GiveCentral.
Volunteer to drive food bags to St. Gregory’s (Baltimore) or Bloomsbury Square (Annapolis) on Sat. morning, November 23(email Willis at [email protected] or call 443-223-5842)
WHEN TO DROP OFF YOUR FOOD BAGS MONDAY or WEDNESDAY Oct 28 - Nov 20 from 10 -12 at table in front of Parish Center. AFTER ALL MASSES on Oct 26/27, Nov 2/3, Nov 9/10, Nov 16/17 at the table in front of Parish Center. Please do not leave bags in the Narthex or Church office. They are being counted and stored in the Parish Center only during above times. If you are unable to come at these times, call Susan (410-721-8724) to arrange an alternate time. WHAT’S IN A FOOD BAG 1 large box instant potatoes (12 servings) 1 can cranberry sauce 1 large can sweet potatoes (approx. 40 oz.) 3 cans vegetables 1 lg. or 2 small boxes stuffing mix (12 servings) 2 gravy (pks. or cans) NO GLASS PLEASE 1 lg. can sauerkraut (approx. 27 oz.) 1 package cookies 1 can evaporated milk (for the mashed potatoes)
Please pack all items in a stand-up RE-USABLE BAG. This makes it easy to store and count, move without ripping, plus families can use the bags again! Please include only those items above so all bags are uniform. If you are able to be more generous, consider donating another food bag.
If you wish to add $20 for a turkey, put a check made out to SETON PARISH (or provide cash) in an envelope taped onto your food bag, labeled “Turkey Money” with your name on it.
